Longhorn Art Therapy Club Website Remodel
SUMMARY
A University of Texas student organization that was recently established in 2022. The
club was made to combine people’s love for art and the need for mental health breaks. Their
mission is “a place to time out, relax, and explore your emotions through art”. Since the
organization is new it is reflected in its website.
HEURISTIC AND ACCESSIBILITY
Analysis of the Original Website
The colors of this page fit the theme of art therapy. There is some redundancy in the buttons
that are too close together to be doing the same thing.Lack of important information such as when and where the monthly meetings are
The lack of descriptions of who the officers are, makes it feel less welcoming
The information is outdated
The font is hard to read
The small calendars are hard to read
Feels empty with very little information about the art and artists
Feels empty with no information about the events
It's hard to tell that you can move through the photos
The style is mostly consistent, a couple of places have a different font
Some styles are hard to read, the font isn't easy to read, contrast isn't high enough.
Feels a little empty in terms of content
Would be nice to have a more detailed about me page.

WIREFRAME
The first wireframe is below:

Homepage: I added places for artwork or event picture
Past Events: I made the layout more appealing and room for descriptions
Calendar: I made this into a Google calendar that students can add to their own calendar
Artwork: I made this more of a gallery than a carousel of pictures, with room for small
descriptionsAbout Us: I made room for a mission statement as well as an outline for all the officers to
put a picture and a little bio.
USER TESTING OVERVIEW
Some of the feedback:
The user assumed the home page was the past events page because there is no tab called
the home page, although the logo is linked to the homepageUsers tried clicking on the tabs but they aren’t clickable just yet
Users liked the idea of having a Google Calendar link
The “past events: tab is what Users would probably click to look at first.
Users found the homepage to be visually appealing and informative but suggested adding
a section for upcoming events.Users suggested adding a brief explanation of what art therapy is and how it benefits
individuals.Users suggested adding a section to the website where members can provide feedback or
suggestions for improving the club.Users also suggested adding a section to the website where potential members can learn
more about art therapy and its benefits.
FINAL PROTOTYPE
Changes I made:
The home page is still staying the same but I added a homepage tab to the top
On the calendar page, I made it more obvious what the upcoming events are
The past events page is the same
The artwork page is the same
I added a new mental health page. Since this is a mental health club they can provide
links to mental health resources as well as talk more about how mental health is a form of
therapy
